Ever fall asleep in the middle of a hand online? I FTed a trny last nite at Bodog, a miracle for me who doesn't play much NLHE, and never caught up on my sleep. Spent the day gettng a flat fixed and back on the car, thank you Twister. I'm also changing a bunch of email stuff around so if anyone wants to contact me they'll need to do it through this forum. A few people have mentioned recently wanting to watch me play. I'm old-fashioned enough that I don't want anyone looking over my shoulder, even online, so I don't make that easy. Sometimes people have hung around and whatever, that's online poker. So be it.

I play at Bodog and UB and always always Stars. I don't play at FT. My poker handles at other sites have never been made public. I'm working off some bonuses at the other sites now so I might not be around Stars as much anyway - but - if anyone wants to see my game just join Stox. There is a two-part Razz video of a single table trny we did where you can see everyone's hole cards. I featured one of the hands in a blog a while back. Nothing about my game is essentially any different except for HU play. I already wrote about that.

I'm having a poker day off, I might play the $3 Razz trny at UB later tonight, I guess. I have a lot of stuff to catch up on around the house, though. If it builds up too much it nags at me while I play and I don't concentrate as well. At least I got done messing with this forum, hated that lime green. Matches the new blog a bit better.

I spent a couple hours today working on a new blog post. I have a file of hands from .50/1 saved up, to use as examples. I had half of it written when I just deleted the whole thing.

I realized today that there isn't anything I haven't said, and if people want the info, it's already there - or here. At least, there isn't anything new I'm willing to share. And I've been going through some stuff because I got a message recently about this weird guy who's obsessed with me. I found out a while back that he'd convinced people I was harassing him.

I thought that was pretty funny until I got this information that he did that by convincing people I'd somehow hacked into a personal online account of his. And, and this is unconfirmed of course, that he actually never was hacked, he faked the whole incident for attention with the help of a friend.

IS THERE ANY REASON TO BELIEVE THAT IS TRUE? NOT REALLY.

I've always made it a point to stay out of the PM-gossip nets on all the forums I've posted at, and I've posted at many. The worst thing about all of this is: someone's lying and the only person I know isn't, is me. I have no idea if this guy did this. I wonder what anonymous emailers send to him about me? Or is this someone who has the inside info and wants me to know? If so, why?

What I've always known is: anyone can post anything online and gossip travels like lightning on the 'net. And I also know that people really like to start up big storms and watch them rage.

The fact is, I have no idea what's going on at all.

I put this here because if the anonymous person can send me something like that, then, they can send it to a lot of people. And I guess the more everyone talks about it and takes sides and hates somebody, and I suppose it doesn't matter who, the more fun "anonymous" can have.

The other thing is - it has nothing to do with me and cannot do me, personally, a bit of harm. So, here's a message: stop it. I've taken the steps I need to to protect myself and my game. If the gossip is true, or not, is pretty much irrelevant as far as me, personally. Nothing can stop me doing what I want to with poker or affect the important parts of my life, and poker isn't really one of those parts, anyway, as all truly important parts of my life are possessed of faces. Some furrier than others, but faces nonetheless. (I suppose God doesn't really have "face" per se - but I still have an image of Him in my heart.)

I just want to say something - everyone needs to let go of gossip - I don't care who it's about. No one has any idea what's going on, or what anyone's personal motives are. Life is long and we all have enough bullshit we must contend with that we don't need to embrace someone else's ugliness, too. And I don't mean just online, I mean in jobs and social groups, whatever.

OK - going to find a nice HORSE table, in the mood for some variety.

Being HiLo,. I ended up splitting the lo with the other wheel, but did take half his chips and all the chip from the guy with the K hi flush. This was my first-ever straight flush that counted. They don't count in Razz and they don't count in Stud when you're all-in HU on 4th with some guy who only has a SB left.

'Course, quads aren't that hard to get in Omaha, but at least there was no lo and I picked up the whole thing.

It's just nice to be having fun at the table in a new game.

It never occurred to me to play O8 by itself until the other day when I realized how often I get well there in HORSE if I've had a bad few rounds. I didn't know they had fixed limit O8 tables that anyone played at. They have fixed for regular Omaha but no one plays there. This was a relaxing game, because everyone was so loose/passive, I could even just play high and do well, because there are so many players in the pot that will call down, half a pot is pretty profitable.

I've been on a poker vacation for a bit, but I've spent part of it reading some poker books. I just finished - as in about ten minutes ago, Matesow's book. I love Mike, I've always loved Mike. I wish the book had more of his "voice" but it was interesting to read his story. Being bipolar myself, I know that poker is one of the worst activities to engage in, every winning hand and every losing hand cause a new chemical cascade and those chemicals specifically affect mood. Oddly, or not so oddly if you are also bipolar, I had Mike diagnosed years before he was just by watching him on TV. Kinda wish now I'd tried emailing him or something - maybe it would have helped?

We all have to walk our own path, I guess.

But Mike has always been a personal hero of mine for just this reason, because I know what it means to do what he does with what he has, in public, now often on camera, and how much courage it takes. I don't have that much. My life works because it's essentially private and I have real control over how much anyone sees. For instance, a few months ago I took some steps to regain my online anonymity, so don't look for "listening" at the tables anymore, she's gone.

I was going to close down this forum, but I found out I actually play better if I am regularly reporting something, like doing one of those "challenges" - so - after the 1st of the year, I hope, when the holidays and other time-consuming stuff is over, I think I'll start a thread just for blogging my poker results. I don't see why anyone would be that interested, but I find it helps me if I think I'll have to post a loss. I might make a deal with myself to post my worst hand of the week and my best. Maybe I'll find some new leaks. (yeah - i know - but "playing bad" is just not specific enough!)

You all probably heard that Daniel Negreanu's mom passed - prayers for Daniel and his family.

Sometimes there's just not enough time. I finally got a blog up today that just expresses my frustration with the WSOP. head bang

I suppose it's unlikely they want my opinion - still - less greed and more sense would mean more $ for us all. TV tends to forget the metagame.

Then - I started reading McManus new book Cowboys Full on the history of poker. I got to the part about how evolution somehow formed the trait of aggressive poker players or whatever the hell he was trying to say and I just couldn't stop laughing. But I every time I think of where to comment I know I'll just offend every guy with a Stone Age whack the saber-tooth and drag Raquel Welch into the cave fantasy -

Just - seriously dudes - that whole "man the Hunter" deal - pretty much got pwned by the cooperative scavenger system a couple decades ago. I could write about it but I had visions of myself citing all kinds of scholarly works by paleoanthropologists and just - .... hey - I have to still play, yanno!

I had a huge day playing HORSE - it's really the on way on UB to find regular Razz at a variety of limits. I rarely have a session where every game gets lucky for me. So that was good. Coincidentally, Ms. Twister tells me she had a big day at HORSE, also! Must be in the air around here. Or maybe we're finally just both learning the games.

Have y'all been following the BOKU87 $5-100,000 Challenge on Stars? I don't get it. He comes out and says - doing great! Doing horrible! That's it. I don't get what we're supposed to be following or how we learn anything from this guy. His first blog lays out how he will start with the $5 and what BR management he'll use:

Starting out in this challenge won't be easy, as proper bankroll management does not really allow you to play much with only $5. For SNG's you should have at least 50 buy-ins, meaning 10 cent SNG's are an option. However, No Limit cash games are out of question as you need a minimum buy-in of $1 for the lowest limit 1/2 cents blinds, and just 5 buy-ins is not enough. The risk of ruin would be too high. Unless of course you don't care about going broke because you can just reload another $5...! Fixed Limit 2/4 cents have a minimum buy-in of only 20 cents, so these are also an option. Basically, my plan will be to start out with playing some 2/4 cent Fixed Limit cash games, and also add a couple of 10 cent SNG's. I will try to get my bankroll to around the $10 - $12 mark so that I can start playing 25 cents SNG's without the fear of going broke! I will continue doing so until I reach about $40 or $50, and then I can start playing the $1.10 SNG's.

OK, this sounds interesting, esp when I've started almost that low myself to build a BR. He posts this on July 15th, 2009. Then, the very next blog post starts out:

His $5 bankroll? I'm not accusing the guy of cheating or anything like that - but the part that is most interesting is how do you go from $5 to say, $115 so you can double it in $1 SNGs? And we never hear a word about it. That's what's so hard, starting from a fullstop and gaining some momentum.

I don't care for this whole thing and I think Stars missed whatever boat was floating by here. I want to see the sessions, at least the results. I want to know how many tables of what he played. I'm no Supernova, but in my challenges, I think at least the first two, I posted the results of every single session I played. And I think he should do that here. I want to see how he does what he does.

Anyway - my sympathies to the guy, looks like he went on a big-ass downer and is kinda in limbo on the thing. It's hard when you've got the big public expectations and your game blows up.

I went and looked at those .10 turbo sngs - and we all know I don't play NLHE, but I think I'll try a few over the next week or so and see what happens while I'm waiting for Stars to announce the next big reload bonus deal.

Goals for December

I thought while it was still the 1st - for a few minutes, anyway, I'd put my Dec goal in here:

Make 225 BBs.

I decided recently that in all my poker record-keeping and speaking, to only speak of BBs earned, lost or desired, instead of amounts of money. I do have a monetary goal for December, but whether I am playing .01/.02 and wanting to make $5, or playing $3/6 and wanting to make $1350, I still have to do the same things. I have to play my best game as long as I'm at a table. I have to keep reviewing my hands and looking for leaks. I have to practice some smart table/game choice, I have to play the metagame at all times, I have to play the players I'm in the hand with - not some vague descriptor of a LAG or a LOOP. I have to choose to win.

There are some really negative consequences, imo, in focusing on money. Money is the ineluctable result of making good choices in poker. In everything. In food we eat, sleep we get, exercise we engage in, study we do, relaxation we indulge in. Companions we elect to spend time with.

So my goal was 225 BBs but I already have 63.9 of 'em.

Be really nice if I needed a new goal before the month was out, huh?

No. 1 thing I don't give a shit about today: Tiger Woods' personal life.

No. 1 thing I care about right now: more factory and business closings putting more and more people out of work while being treated like I'm stupid by government who keeps saying it's getting better.

Meanwhile, more troops ($$$$) go to Afghanistan and cutbacks for old folks who don't really need all that medicine.

We have to take care of each other guys, no one else is going to. Give a bit if you can. If you can't, just be nicer to each other in the store. Be more patient in traffic. Pray some.

Yay, me! I deserve a big hug! I'm about halfway to my December goal (104.98 BBs out of a target 225) I have a "mental goal" for this month which is to be a winning player every session, even if I end up down a few BBs. I feel like I've really achieved something there, but there's still a ways to go. I imagine there will always be a ways to go!

Until Stars starts a new reload promotion, I'm playing a lot of Omaha and Omaha hilo out in the great online poker beyond, building a roll to take over there when they do. I got my daughter hooked on the O8, also. She never was as big a Razz fan as I. I, though, am looking forward to taking on the new crop of high stakes Razzers this spring.

Hmmmmmmmm....

I am thinking of changing my goal to a flat 500 BBs. I've made 156 of my 225, it's the 8th. (Well, it was when I made them) more hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmming.................... I'll have to pick up the pace a bit ................. might interfere with my WR ............................... huh?

I recently made some changes to my game. Kind of radical outside the box changes. Seems like they are working out - or maybe I'm just on a nice upswing. I was planning on blogging the new strategy if it works out but I'm going to need a lot more data. I'd hate to screw it up getting impatient....... it would mean doubling my BB WR........... maybe just 350. I'll see how the rest of the week goes, then decide.

Mysteries of poker include: Why a guy I just saw at .25/.50 I am seeing like, three weeks later at $100/200? Why people try to bluff at limit O8 on the Turn of all places.... Why LHE players call u down with overcards and get pissed when they jam the river with their finally made pair of Aces and you show them the 666 you've been betting out all the way down? Why play usually improves generally as you move up but attitudes don't seem to? I guess they do when you get way up there - I hope - .

...or in the blog/forum, really. You might notice some stuff is moving around. I am doing a bit of long-overdue reorganizing. I also might be moving soon, so I'm hoping to get this done by the 1st before I get all overwhelmed with cardboard boxes and tape. I'll see what entertaining stuff I can find for the thread. My wins and losses have been pretty darned entertaining lately depending on if you root for me to win or lose. Absolute gave me $10 to stick some money on there, so I put on ten bucks! Haven't lost it yet - think I'll go play some PLO - walk on the wild side!

Still waiting for Stars to have a reload bonus, I expect it'll show up just as the SCOOP sats, do. (Hope I'm all moved before that.)

So, I am taking stock of the month and realized every time I try and set one of these goal-things I end up confused. My goal for the month was to make a certain number of BBs - but it was on a certain site. Then, this other site offered me a nice deposit bonus and I started playing there as well. Early, I was going great guns on Site A and then going on a downer for a while, but all month I've been getting hit with the deck at site B, where I didn't have the goal. The upshot of all this is I'm only halfway to my goal on site A but far surpassed the goal on Site B where I've won 450BB so far this month and I think I started there on like, the 10th or something. So.....is that success or failure? huh?

I'm counting my month as a success (unless the last few days are a total disaster) because I have more money on all sites I play at now than I did when the month started. So for Dec 2009 I am a winning player.

Can't ask for more than that! (I wonder if I should be more superstitious and not tally the poultry before it emerges from the egg?)

Stars tell us they are making the VIP program better than ever. I'm going to take a close look at it, see if they are messing with micros again or if it is, in fact, better than ever.
